Cataract Blitz 2015

The eleventh cataract blitz to celebrate the annual Eye Care Awareness Week was  hosted on 1 October this year. We were able to perform cataract operations on 41 destitute patients. This achievement was made possible with the generous support of local and national businesses.  As always the  ophthalmologists working in Horizon Eye Care Centre as well as four anaesthetists (from Haumann & Partners and Skoltramed),  gave their time for free, whilst Horizon Eye Care Centre sponsored the theatre time, supplied the personnel and also the food for the patients. The nursing students from  the Department of Nursing at the UFS also helped in the ward us to manage our patients .  The patients that received cataract operations all said there were very blessed to receive the gift of sight! Nurses Day 12 May 2015

Nurses Day was commemorated on 12 May 2014. A small token of our appreciation was handed to each nurse on the day. Horizon Eye Care wishes to thank her nursing staff for the dedication to our patients' wellbeing, the respect with which you treat each and every patient that walks through our doors, and the support to the doctors and Horizon Eye Care. We appreciate your efforts!  Keep up the good work!

Cataract Blitz - 13 November 2014

Our cataract blitz was hosted on 13 November 2014. We were privileged to have been able to do cataract extractions on 49 destitute patients. This annual event is made possible with the generous support of our doctors, suppliers and other businesses. The seven ophthalmologists who did the operations, gave their time for free, as did the four anesthetists. Horizon Eye Care Centre sponsored the theatre time and personnel. An unique feature this year was the financial support received from three local businesses, namely Interstate Bus Lines, SA Truck Bodies and Big Sky Coaches.
